Robert Wampole

Robert Lawrence “Larry” Wampole, 75, of Granbury, Texas, passed away on September 1, 2025, in Arlington, Texas. He had recently moved into an assisted living facility there to be closer to family and loved ones.

Larry was born on December 30, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Raymond Charles Wampole and Bertha Fortune Wampole. He was the second of two children and is survived by his brother, David R Wampole.

Larry is also survived by his children, Joe Wampole Jing and Erica May David (husband Christopher William David). He was the proud grandfather of Juliet Nicole Menefee (husband Aaron) and Catherine Guinevere David, step-grandfather to Jimmy Ray, Alley, and Rose Kennimer, and great-grandfather to Alexander Neal and Shana Rose (children of Juliet and Aaron), Jasmine NylaMay (daughter of Catherine), and Kyler, Evelyn, Jeremiah, and Ellis (children of Alley).

Larry was always a gentle and easy going husband, father, grandfather (“Grumps”), and friend. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Kathryn Kokott, the mother of their two children, and his second wife, Cheryl Denise Boyd Wampole, whom he faithfully cared for with unwavering devotion until her passing.

A Vietnam Navy Veteran, and below-the-knee amputee, Larry overcame many adversities in life. His passions in life included global travel during his Navy service, photography, leatherworking, binging network TV, motorcycles, and he always had a home improvement, mechanics, and/or craft project underway. He also had a wide collection of sewing machines and cats! Both being shared interests with Cheryl. Finally, he showed steadfast love to his wife, taking on the role of caregiver with grace and devotion.

Larry will be remembered for his kind nature, goofy smile, love of cats, and endless stories — a man whose resilience and devotion to family left an enduring mark on all who knew him.

The family is planning a memorial and celebration of life to be held closer to Larry’s birthday.
