Robert Martin Vaughn, “Marty”, age 70, of Bloomsdale, Missouri passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 at his home after battling cancer. He was born September 14, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri and was the son of the late Violet Marie (Goff) and Robert George Vaughn.
He is survived by his wife Susan (Sweeney) Vaughn; daughter Lettie (Ted) Bradford of Festus and their children, Theo, Tucker, Guy, and Millie; daughter Anna (Matthew) Tegg of Hannibal, Missouri, and their children, Titus, Zadok, Benaiah, Hadessah, Zipporah, and “another on the way”; daughter Grace (Tyler) Peterein of Festus, and their children Gilbert, Reggie, Lottie, and Fletcher; daughter Abigail (James) Barton of Crystal City, and their children, Jimmy, Giuliana, Abel, Alice, Pearl, and Magnolia; daughter Naomi (Robert) Fina of DeSoto, and their children, Axel, Nellie, Margaret, Greta, and Harvey; son Luke (Anna) Vaughn of St. Louis, and their children, Poppy and Psalm; daughter Phoebe (Blake) Sheldon of Bloomsdale, and their children, Grant, Griffin, and Marty; daughter Lily (Ethan) Ford of Festus, and their children, Omar and Enys; and son Levi (McKenzi) Vaughn of Bloomsdale, and their children Sybil and Monroe; a great-granddaughter Raelynn Bradford; brother Charlie (Karen) Vaughn of Bloomsdale: sister Karen (the late Lloyd) Apple of Pacific, Missouri; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Marty was a retired chemical packer at DPC in Festus, Missouri. A construction laborer, and life-long member of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and children’s church leader.
He was a baseball and basketball enthusiast and umpire, church league basketball and softball coach, collector of baseball cards, and an avid American and Civil War history buff. He especially loved spending time with his nine children, enjoyed camping with, and giving four-wheeler rides to his 33+grandchildren, and also caring for his many farm animals.
Visitations and funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. Visitation on Sunday, September 14, 2025 will be from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., and Monday, September 15, 2025 at 9:00 A.M. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Mitch Jackson will begin at 10am. Interment to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Donations in Marty’s memory can be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City.
