Robert B. “Josh” Allen, age 96, of Elizabethton, Tennessee passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Hillview Health Center. Robert was born in Elizabethton to the late Glen Allen and Stella Geisler Allen. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Allen; brothers, Daniel and John Allen.
Josh Allen, a devoted man of faith and service, will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to his family, church, and community. A faithful member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, Robert dedicated more than 30 years to teaching Sunday school, sharing both wisdom and compassion with all who knew him. He graduated from East Tennessee State Teachers College in 1960 and went on to serve his community as a social worker for the state of Tennessee for three decades, while also mastering the craft of bricklaying. A proud veteran, Josh honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy as part of the Seabees. Beyond his work and service, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially his deep love for fishing. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Those left to cherish the memory of Josh include his brothers, Tom Allen (Diane), of Greenwood, SC, and James Allen, of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service and interment to honor and celebrate the life of Josh Allen will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Happy Vally Memorial Park with Rev. Matt Swain officiating. Those wishing to be a part of this service are asked to meet at the cemetery no later than 9:50 AM on Tuesday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and to James H. Quillen VA Medical Center for the loving care given to Mr. Allen during this difficult time.
