Richard Peterson
Richard A. “Ric” Peterson, 74, of Newcomerstown passed away unexpectedly in his residence on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
Born in Warren, PA on September 29, 1950, he was the son of the late Rev. Marshall H. and Patricia (Wood) Peterson. He married the former Kathleen “Kathy” Ludwig on January 16, 1993.
He was a 1968 graduate of Danville High School, and was a Field Service Engineer for OEC Medical Systems for many years, retiring in 1999. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1976, and greatly enjoyed farming in the Bakersville area since 2000, with his special dog and tractor buddy Cooper by his side. He was a member of the Christ Methodist Church in Newcomerstown.
Ric is survived by his wife Kathy of the home, son’s Troy (Stacy) Peterson, Seth (Sarah) Peterson, Adam Peterson, and Drew (Kathy) Peterson. In addition, he is survived by his grandkids Alexis (Jenn), Zane (Kylie), Sabrina, Lilli, Preston, Ariana, London, Adelyn, Nash, and Xander; a brother Gail (Jean Ann) Peterson; and sister-in-law Ann Peterson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Gary Peterson and Jeff Peterson; and his first wife Rosemary Peterson.
Honoring Ric’s wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is assisting the family with arrangements.
