Richard Allen Leppingwell, born on January 30, 1942, in New York, New York, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, at the age of 83 years.
Richard served his country honorably as a veteran of the United States Air Force, exemplifying dedication and commitment throughout his service. Following his military career, he pursued a successful professional path as the Employee Relations Director at American Airlines, where his leadership and integrity left a lasting impression on colleagues and associates alike.
Richard’s educational journey led him to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration, equipping him with the knowledge and skills that he applied throughout his esteemed career. He also contributed to his community as the President of the Bird Club of Hendersonville, fostering connections and camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts.
He is survived by his beloved wife of ten years, Maria Leppingwell, who was his steadfast companion and support. Richard also leaves behind his stepson, David Narualz, and five cherished step-grandchildren who brought joy and pride to his life. His cousins, Lucille Holohan and Winnie Manners, along with step-nephews Stephen Juchen and Michael Juchen, will remember him fondly.
A graveside service with military honors will be held in his memory at eleven o’clock on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Shepherd Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a man who touched many lives with his kindness and strength.
Richard will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
