Rhett Alan Dean, formerly of Geneva, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, due to heart complications. He was 63 years old.
Rhett lived in Suffolk, Virginia but always considered Geneva home. He was in the Class of 1979 at Geneva High School. When he moved from Geneva, he joined the Navy where he learned underwater welding. This led him to a career at Oceaneering International, Inc. He retired from Oceaneering where he was a Project Manager. He worked on submarines and hovercrafts among many other projects. He was very proud of the work he did. He even worked on a submarine that was used in the movie, The Hunt for Red October.
There will be no services, but burial will be in the Geneva City Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of directing.
He was preceded in death by his Mama and Daddy, Calvin C. and Jacqueline Adair Dean; step-mother, Jean G. Dean; grandparents, Jack and Bea Adair and Charlie and Pearl Dean.
Rhett is survived by his sister, Lisa D. Parker (Ronnie); two nieces and their families, Melanie P. Grantham (Charlie) and Julie P. Majors (Bradley), Adalyn and Luke; a nephew and his family, Derrick Parker (Emily) and Rowen; and his Suffolk family of 40 years, Lee and Connie Brown.
