Our sweet father and grandfather, Reg Garrett, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 21st, 2025. “The Adventure Continues” was a motto he lived to the fullest.
In his younger years, the adventure was boating, snow skiing, jeeping, hunting, camping and horseback riding. He then married the love of his life, Colleen Holtman Garrett, on September 18, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised six of the world’s best children. The family loved camping, Friday night homemade pizza, cake mix batter, and farming together. (Although the kids didn’t always love the endless farm chores he made sure were done!)
While Reg enjoyed hiking, trapeze, snow skiing, traveling and spending time with grandkids in his later years, what he may have loved most was sitting on the farm and watching the “diamonds in the sky” fall on the alfalfa fields. He played hard and instilled in his children the value of making something of themselves. He worked hard in a lumber yard, a metal recycling plant, Young Living and his beloved farm.
Reg was an avid scuba diver and traveled the world to many beautiful tropical destinations. He logged over 500 dives! With a personal record of nine dives in one day. He enjoyed seeing whale sharks, sea lions, spinner dolphins, sharks, giant manta rays, Humuhumunukunukuapua’a and many other types of ocean life. He included his whole family (and plenty of friends) in his diving adventures, but his favorite dive buddy was always Colleen. The family has many wonderful memories going on scuba dives together and eating exotic food (Barracuda comes to mind) after a day of diving. He also held the family title for eating the most ice cream and key lime pie! It truly was impressive.
His example of kindness, gentleness and patience is an inspiration to all who knew him. He loved everyone he met and wanted to help them. He ministered to countless people throughout the years, which led to many wonderful and lifelong friendships.
He is joyfully reunited in Heaven with his eternal sweetheart Colleen and his dear mother Alta.
Reg is survived by his six children: Cody (Diana), Casey (STILL taking applicants), Nikki (Dallas), Ashli (Deven), Cade (Emily), and Reg (Jessica); his 20 grandchildren; his father, Ralph Garrett; and siblings: Ray (Milli) Garrett, David (Coy) Garrett, Debbie (Mike) Phillips, Denece (John) Jones, Carmen (Vernon) Lujan; and in-laws: Jerrie (Lynn) Hurst, Jody Murray, Joni (Robert) Jensen, Teresa Wu, and Amy (Corey) Solum. And his two horses, Eclipse and Apache.
THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES!
In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for someone you care about or enjoy ice cream with your family in memory of Reg.
