Of Delavan
Rande was born October 2, 1946 in Elkhorn to Glenn and Arline (Miller) Gates. She passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.
Rande was employed with the Delavan-Darien School District from 1979-1991 at the Darien Elementary School. She started her child care business in 1978 and cared for many children who she loved as her own and they all grew up referring to her as Grandma Rande.
She enjoyed many hobbies such as puzzles, crosswords, bowling, cribbage, euchre, attending to her flowers, and knitting. She loved watching and attending Nascar races, Milwaukee Admirals games, and Milwaukee Brewers games. Her favorite past time was being with her family and creating memories, attending any and all activities that the grandkids participated in, and taking vacations.
Rande is survived by her husband Ken Blanke, whom she married on October 15, 1977 at Darien Untied Methodist Church; her children Judi Peterson (Chuck Munger), Jeri (John) Schultz, and Brenda (Eric) Barkas; grandchildren Bailey (Kyle) Polzin, Bradley (Sara) Schultz, and Kendra Barkas; great granddaughter Hayden Polzin; as well as her sister-in-law Betty Blanke.
She was preceded in death by her stepsister Elaine (Bill) Cary; stepbrother Vernon Falk, and brother-in-law Wayne Blanke.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Toynton Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at a later date at Darien Cemetery.
