Prepare for traffic: Large protest expected Saturday in downtown Carson City along with National Guard event

A 50501 protest is planned this Saturday in Carson City along Carson Street as part of nationwide “No Kings” protest events. The event is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendance at recent protests in Carson City have been estimated in the thousands.

Residents and visitors should prepare for traffic throughout the downtown corridor near the Capitol grounds. If possible, seek alternate routes if your intent is not to visit the downtown Saturday morning and afternoon.

Sheriff’s Office deputies will be on scene for traffic control, as they are during most Capitol protests.

In addition, the Nevada National Guard will be hosting a Flag Day ceremony also on the Capitol grounds, a celebration they do every year. They also will be starting at 10 a.m.

This is a particularly special year, as Flag Day marks the 250th anniversary of the United States Army.
