Pickup left at Storey County jail, man returns days later and booked for drugs after tow inventory discovery
- August 24, 2025

We can’t make this up … Earlier this week, a male subject pulled a red Chevrolet pickup into the Storey County Detention Facility parking lot. This subject told detention deputies the truck had broken down and a tow truck was on the way. Fast forward to a few days later, August 24, 2025, oddly the truck was still parked in the detention facility parking lot. No sign of the subject.
As the vehicle appeared to now be abandoned on county property, deputies requested a tow truck. Shockingly, the vehicle was unlocked. While conducting a tow inventory, a firearm, drug paraphernalia and a white powdery substance in a small baggie were discovered inside the truck.
Perhaps the most shocking of all, the subject returned to the jail with a friend in an attempt to tow the truck themselves. Unfortunately for the subject, he was quickly detained and placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance. During a search of his person, three more baggies of a white powdery substance were located. The subject was walked across the parking lot to the detention facility, where he was booked on possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance, less than 14 g and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Moral of this story, do not bring illegal substances into Storey County, and most certainly not to our detention facility parking lot.
