Phillip Rendone

Phillip Rendone, 95, passed away on February 3, 2025. He was born on April 6,1929 in Geneva, Il to Nicholas and Helen (nee Descourouez) Rendone and raised in Chicago. Phillip was a 1951 graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and served two years in the U.S. Army at the White Sands Missile Base in New Mexico. Phillip met his future wife Rosemary (nee Lakowski) at the University of Illinois and they married on May 23, 1953. He had a passion for teaching math, starting his career in Arlington Heights and spending thirty years at Oak Park River Forest High School before retiring.
Phillip and Rosemary were married for 66 years and raised four children. He cherished spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, listening to classical music, attending the Lyric Opera, vegetable gardening, fishing and walking with Rosemary in their Villa neighborhood and at the Chicago Botanic Garden on the weekends.
He was the beloved father of Nicholas (Laura) Rendone, Cathy O’Connell, Sue (Chip) Pickett and Mary Beth (Damon) Anderson. Treasured grandfather of Lisa (George) Spyrnal, Nicole Rendone, Olivia (Kevin) Miller, Caitlin (Jake) Stubbs, Courtney (Julio) Gaona, Melissa (Caroline) Pickett, Madison Pickett and Max and Caroline Anderson, and a great-grandfather of Lilyana, Geo, Reese and William Spyrnal, Warren and Philip Miller, Zoe Stubbs and Julian, Felix and Gael Gaona. Phillip was preceded in death by wife Rosemary, son Tim, son-in-law Len O’Connell, and sister Josephine.
Visitation from noon-4pm on Sunday, February 9th at Theis-Gorski Funeral Home, 3517 N. Pulaski, Chicago, IL (773) – 463-5800.
Funeral Mass on Monday, February 10th at 10am at St. Viator & Wenceslaus Church, 4170 W. Addison, Chicago, IL.
Interment following the Mass at St. Adalbert Cemetery, 6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Lyric Opera of Chicago would be greatly appreciated.
Special thanks to our devoted caregivers Ana, Laima and Nadiya who took such good care of our dad during the past five years.
