Philip Levy
- March 12, 2025

Dr. Philip Levy passed peacefully at home on March 11, 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona at age 93. He lived life fully each and every day. Whether he was checking out at Costco, dropping off mail at the post office, or roaming the halls of Good Samaritan Hospital, he made everyone around him feel comfortable and at home. Always ready with a story or joke, or occasionally a song, he impacted so many with his warmth and friendliness.
Dr. Levy is survived by his three children: Mimi, David and Amy, his children-in-law: Manish, Linda and Andy, and five grandchildren: Rani, Michael, Alexander, Emma and Adam.
The youngest of five, Dr. Levy was born to Morris and Lillie Levy on April 24, 1931 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. He and his family lived in a two-bedroom apartment above their furniture store, where little Phil would charm customers with his comprehensive knowledge of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where he also attended medical school. He later served as a fellow under Dr. Rachmiel Levine at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. It was in Chicago that he met his wife Alison Carol Hartman whom he married on November 19, 1960. Alison passed away in 2002.
Dr. Levy moved to the Valley in 1963, where he raised his family and built his endocrinology practice. He was passionate about his career and patients, working until he was 91. He especially loved traveling all over the country and abroad to attend and speak at medical conferences. Beyond practicing medicine, he enjoyed doing crosswords and the word jumble, Sunday lunches with his kids and grandkids, and going out for meals with his good friend Stanley. His loved ones remember him for his generosity, silliness and good spirits.
The family is grateful to Jorge, Roberto and Delilah for making his final years as comfortable as possible.
