PATTY SUE RATLIFF, 87, went to her heavenly home on July 29, 2025. Born on January 30, 1938, in Buchanan County, where she lived most of her life on Little Prater.
Patty is preceded in death by her beloved husband and companion of 59 years, William Clinton “Clint” Ratliff; her parents, Clifford and Cecil (Gibson) Tolbert; 7 Brothers, 3 Sisters and her nephew, Robert Tolbert.
Those left to cherish her memory include Brother-in-Law: Robert (Barbara) Ratliff; Sisters-in-Law: Lynn (Cap) Smith, Mickey (Leighton) Lawrence, Kay Ratliff.
Also, survived by several dear nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Patty was a member of the Little Prater Church of Christ where she attended for many years.
She spent 18 months from 1958 to December 1960 with her husband Clint who was in the Army with the 4th Armored Division stationed in Copenhagen, Germany. Upon returning from Germany, she came back to Buchanan County where she began working for Judge Pat Hale and in October of 1973, she started her career as a Deputy Clerk with the Buchanan County District Court and worked until her retirement on April 30, 2003. During her years of working, she made many dear friends who remained close.
Patty was an avid bowler who loved playing Rook and spending time with her family. She loved animals of all kinds, especially her cat Molly.
Special thanks to all her wonderful caregivers over the years who she appreciated so much.
Visitation will be held at the Little Prater Church of Christ Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for PATTY SUE RATLIFF will be conducted Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Little Prater Church of Christ with Gerald Vanover, Pastors: Ken Runyon and Mike Rife officiating with burial to follow in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery, Richlands, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be Todd Lawrence, Dylan Lawrence, Cullen Ratliff, Kollin Day, Trevor Day, Connor Day, Ryan Tolbert and Jamie Perkins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Wimmer, Gerald Vanover, Terry Swiney, Greg Rife, Willie Childress, Isaac Hylton and Sid Ratliff.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little Prater Church of Christ.
