Patrick James Connell, affectionately known as Pat to his friends and loved ones, passed away at the age of 75 in Phoenix, Arizona, due to complications from MRSA. Born on January 8, 1950, in Duluth, Minnesota, Pat’s early years were marked by a zest for life and a thirst for knowledge that would define him throughout his days.Pat’s academic journey led him to the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with a degree in history, demonstrating his love for learning and understanding the past. Furthering his education, Pat also graduated from The Keno Institute, where he pursued his passion for religion, deepening his faith and philosophical outlook.Professionally, Pat excelled as an Account Executive with AT&T, where his charisma and intelligence made him a respected figure. Outside the office, he channeled his competitive spirit into sports, becoming an excellent ski racer and marathon runner. His determination and drive were evident to all who knew him.Tragedy struck when Pat experienced a life-altering accident, but he met this challenge with characteristic resilience, transforming it into a new chapter of triumphs. Taking to handcycle racing, Pat became a formidable competitor, winning numerous races and inspiring others with his unwavering spirit.Arizona became Pat’s chosen home, where he furthered his commitment to service, engaging in extensive charity work. For sixteen years, he dedicated himself to Habitat for Humanity, helping to build homes and hope for families in need. His compassion and advocacy extended to the State Foster Program, where as a Casa, he followed the journeys of children within the system, being the crucial liaison to the judge overseeing their progress.Pat’s generosity also found an outlet in education. He taught GED classes to the homeless and to prisoners transitioning back into society, aiding in their rehabilitation and reintegration. His efforts have left an indelible mark on countless lives.Those who knew Pat will remember a man who was not only funny and faith-filled but also remarkably intelligent. His humor brought joy to every gathering, his deep faith provided comfort and guidance to those around him, and his intellect sparked engaging conversations and thoughtful reflections.Pat’s life was shared with his beloved fiancĂ©e, Kathleen Elders, who stood by him as a partner and confidante. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Katelyn Rindahl (married to Bobby), who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. Pat was predeceased by his son, Daniel Connell, whose memory remained a cherished part of his heart.He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Beth Mitchell ; Chris Campbell (married to Lou); Doug Connell (married to Linda); and Ann Crowl. Each family member added a unique thread to the rich tapestry of Pat’s life, and together, they shared in his joys, his challenges, and his accomplishments.Patrick James Connell’s life was a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of service, and the enduring nature of love and laughter.
