Patricia Rugo

Patricia Rugo, 61, of Austintown, passed into the Lord’s Glory Thursday morning, September 18th at her residence, following an extended illness.

She was born August 9, 1964 in Youngstown, a daughter of Louis and Edna (Angles) Rugo.

Patti was a 1982 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. She attended Kent State University and achieved a Bachelor of Education degree in 1986, and then returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Kentucky University in 2001. She worked as an occupational therapist for the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio for many years, in the Austintown Local School District.

She was a longtime member of the Highway Tabernacle Church in Austintown where she was involved with the children’s ministry and small group leadership. Patti enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially taking day trips. Her greatest joy was spending time with her sisters and family, especially her nephew and his daughters.

Patti is survived by three sisters; Kathryn Becker, of Medina, Marilou (Alex) Gerena, of Columbus, and Peggy Chester, of Richmond, TX. She also leaves behind a nephew, Kurt (Hanna) Becker; and two great nieces, Anastasia and Tatiana.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents and an uncle, Lester Rugo.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 27th, at the Highway Tabernacle Church Fellowship Hall, 3000 S. Raccoon Rd., Youngstown, OH 44515.

She will be laid to rest in the Brunstetter Cemetery, Austintown Twp.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, OH 44514 or the Highway Tabernacle Church Missions Program, in Patti’s memory.
