Patricia Daly

Patricia Daly, 83, a longtime resident of Cortlandt Manor, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, following a brief illness. Patsy, as she was affectionately known, was born Patricia McMorrow Beck on July 11, 1941, in Glasgow, Scotland, to Bridget Crossan and Alexander Beck; the youngest of their eleven children. Patsy emigrated to the U.S. on May 8, 1966, working as a domestic in White Plains, NY. There she met the late John G. Daly, Jr., whom she married on November 10, 1973. They moved to the Peekskill/Cortlandt region in 1978, where they raised their four sons.

Patsy was a longtime volunteer for St. Columbanus Church and School, seen attending or helping out at almost every function. She was also a member of their Rosary Altar Society and a fixture at the parish bingo night. She also dedicated much of her time to the Cub Scouts and served as a den leader and pack leader for Pack 144. With the Boy Scouts, Patsy specialized in Religious Emblems, for which she was awarded the Bronze Pelican and St. George’s medals for her service.  Patsy also continued to give her time long after her sons’ involvement was over. She later volunteered at Cortlandt Healthcare. Patsy, the wife of a Marine, also cared deeply for those serving in the military and was active in local veterans organizations. Noted for her wit, gregariousness, and Scottish charm, she made many friends and touched many lives.

Patsy is survived by her sons John Joseph, Patrick (Dina), Michael, and Kevin, grandchildren Jack and Erynn; brother Harry Beck of Glasgow; brother-in-law Thomas Daly (Patricia); many nieces and nephews in both the United States and Scotland, and her good friend Fanny Mondelli.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff at NYP-Hudson Valley Hospital, Burke Rehabilitation, and North Westchester Restorative Therapy for their compassionate care.
