Patricia Barhite

Patricia Barhite, of Iowa Falls, IA, passed away on July 8, 2025, at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. She was born May 13, 1925 in Iowa Falls to Victor Brooks and Gladys Thornburg Brooks. She attended school in Iowa Falls, and was an accomplished swimmer and diver. In 1944, she married Russell Scharnberg, who was killed in action in Europe in World War II. Their son, Greg Scharnberg, was born in 1945. In 1946, she married Donald Barhite of Alden, IA. They lived in Alden, Iowa Falls, and Sioux Falls, SD. She worked for many years for Oppen and Wessels, Attorneys, in Iowa Falls. She enjoyed knitting, dancing, playing cards, and going to rummage sales.

Survivors include her daughter, Leslie (Kevin) Fraser, Huron SD, grandchildren Shredd Scharnberg, Kiersten (Tim) Koch, Shannon Fox, Brooke Barhite, David (Schalane) Bucklin and Beau (Anna) Fraser, great grandchildren, cousins and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 3 sons, Greg Scharnberg, Scott Barhite and Jeff Barhite, daughters-in law, half-brother, step-sister and great grandchild.

Per her request, there is be no memorial service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
