Nona Blanton
Nona Blanton, age 75, of Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Born in Joliet, Illinois, on December 14, 1949. Nona was the beloved daughter of Sylvester and Dorothy (Sewall) Nona. She met the love of her life, Ronnie Blanton, at just 15 years old, and together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and family.
Nona dedicated many years to nursing, a profession that perfectly matched her compassionate spirit. Known for her bubbly personality, infectious smile, and boundless love, she brought joy to everyone around her. Her favorite saying, “Rise and Shine, Shine and Rise,” was more than a phrase—it was how she lived, lifting others with her warmth and positivity.
She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Blanton; her children, Jeff (Buffy) Blanton, Myra (Matthew) Grachan, and Melissa (John) Carusi; her granddaughters, Alisha (Lloyd) Emmons, Christina (Sam) Pandolfi, Lauren Blanton, and Megan Blanton; and her great-grandchildren, Holly, Henry, and Finley.
Nona was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jerry and Sylvester, and her sister Dorothy.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 E. McArdle Rd., Coal City, IL 60416.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, with the service to follow. Nona’s final arrangements were entrusted to the Illinois Cremation Society, and her remains will be cremated in accordance with her wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Coal City in Nona’s memory.
