Nikolaos, affectionately known to many as “Nick,” was a kind and gentle soul who brought warmth and laughter to everyone around him. Born and raised in Livingston, he later lived in North Arlington before settling in Newton in 2020. A devout and longtime member of Sts. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Nick volunteered faithfully over the years, giving his time and heart to his church community.

Nick was the life of the party, funny, quick-witted, and known for his good-natured sarcasm that always made people smile. His motto was simple but true to his character: always do the right thing. He was the first to lend a helping hand and the last to leave a friend in need.

Above all, Nick cherished his family. He loved spending time with those he held most dear, his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. He enjoyed gathering with loved ones, especially his close “Sunday Funday” group, where laughter and friendship were always at the center. His loyal companion, his dog Maxwell, will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeannie V. Kontos, and his loving mother, Eleni Kontos; his devoted children Efthimia Kontos, Liam Morrison, Audrey Morrison, Janice Morrison, Kayla Ellis and her husband Michael, and Jody McCarthy and her husband Devin; and his cherished grandchildren, Caeden, Leland, Kieran, Emerson, and Maverick. He is also survived by his brothers, Christos Kontos and his wife Alexandra, and Stelio Kontos and his wife Dawn, as well as his beloved friends, the Condos family, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick’s memory to Sts. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
