Niko Nikolaidis

Niko “Nino” Nikolaidis, a loving father, husband, and grandfather full of warmth, laughter, and wisdom, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Palm Harbor, FL, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Born in December 1942, in the historic city of Istanbul, Turkey, Nino’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering love for his family. He enjoyed being with his family, history and, soccer.

Nino’s life was a testament to hard work and dedication. He had many jobs in life including managing a chain of surf shop retail stores in Clearwater Beach, Florida and then briefly owning and managing his own retail store business with his wife. After selling the business, Nino worked as a book keeper for a friend’s surf shop retail store on Clearwater Beach before retiring in the early 2000s.

Nino always strived to provide for his beloved family. His commitment to excellence was evident in every task he undertook, and his ability to balance the rigors of business with the warmth of family life was nothing short of remarkable.

Nino’s presence was a source of joy and comfort to all who knew him.

Nino was a loving husband to Betty Nikolaidis for 47 years and a father to Tommy, 45, and Lee, 59. He instilled in them the values of integrity, hard work, and the importance of family. Nino was a proud grandfather to Andrew, 12, and Daniel, 3 who brought him joy in his later years.

An avid fan of soccer, particularly AEK FC in Athens, Greece , Nino’s enthusiasm for the game was contagious. Nino was also a fan of baseball, particularly the New York Mets where he took his family to see many games when they lived in the New York area in the 1980s and early 1990s before moving to Florida, passing down the love of the sports to his sons.

History was another of Nino’s passions. He enjoyed watching movies and documentaries related to history and especially when his family joined him.

In his later years, Nino suffered from multiple health issues and was always comforted by his family that was there for him through it all.

Nino’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched and his departure leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but his family takes solace in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire them. His life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love and wisdom, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to Niko “Nino” Nikolaidis, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life that exemplified the best of what it means to be human. May his memory be a blessing to us all, and may we find comfort in the knowledge that his love will forever be a part of us
