Morna Elthea Jean
April 9, 1934 – July 24, 2025
With her life in service to her faith and family Morna Jean now walks on pathways of gold beside her Lord and Saviour, a true faithful servant here on Earth she has gained her heavenly wings. Morna took her last earthly breath on Thursday July 24, 2025. To all who have been loved by Morna the void she will leave behind will be large. May it be filled with the treasured memories of her.
Morna`s memory will be forever cherished by her living legacy, her children, Yvonne, Yvette, MornaRae, Marcel, Dannette, Andy (Sherry), Robert (Donna-Lou), Collette (Dwayne), Paul and Danny; 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and her siblings, Peter (Madeline), Herbert (Irene), Jim (Ellen), Barbra (John), and Elsie, along with a very large extended family.
Morna was predeceased by her first husband, Marcel Jean, daughter Anita, granddaughter Dani, parents Lillian and Herbert Daly, brother Lawrence and her late husband Bernard Welch.
Morna loved the excitement of the “catch” when it came to fishing, there would be no catch and release only catch and eat. The bigger the fish the better the thrill was. From small lakes, to Tofino to Cabo San Lucas to catch Marlin Morna was all in. She was bitten by the travel bug all her life and has been to Europe, Mexico, Barbados, California, and when the grandkids reached a certain age, it was off to Disneyland with Grandma and Grandpa. She enjoyed cruises as well, which may have come from Morna and Marcel building a houseboat and living out on the water all summer at the Brazeau dam, fishing.
Family was the reason Morna rose to meet the day. She was devoted to her family. She raised them with deep morals, proper etiquette, a solid Catholic faith, and she lived these values daily. People with less than her were welcome at her table, what she had she gave freely and looked for nothing in return. She loved to have her grandchildren around she had close relationships with them, she was non-judgmental, she just met people right where they were in their life.
To her community she gave years of devotion to the Royal Purple. She was “Honored Royal Lady” for two terms at the Drayton Valley Chapter and District Deputy for one term. She also served with the Catholic Women’s League.
Morna’s life was a life of service to her Faith, husband, family, and community. She was devoted and gave her life to her family and she was happy to be in service to others.
Rest easy faithful servant your work here is done.
Morna’s family would like to thank Dr. Murphy for his compassionate and trusted care to her well being while in his care. We would also like to thank the staff at the Shangri-La Lodge for all the care, kindness and fellowship while she was living at the lodge She loved living there. And finally but not least to the Good Sam at the Pembina Village for caring for Morna during her stay and last days.
