Michael West

Michael Eugene West, 70, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025 at his Interlachen residence.

Born in Lansing, Michigan, Mike spent most of his life in Florida. He and his beloved wife Susan were together for over 40 years and built a wonderful life and family together.

He was a dedicated and hardworking man who had a long and successful career as a communication tower expert—first as a builder and later as a respected tower safety instructor. Mike was the kind of man who took pride in doing things right and helping others stay safe doing them.

Outside of work, Mike loved to fish, barbecue, and organize family reunions, often with hilarious and creative themes like the Groovy ’70s or the Roaring ’20s. His sense of humor and deep love for his family made those gatherings something truly special.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Dale West; his mother, Patricia Gene Buckley West; and his brother, Dale Allen West.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Susan Annette West; his children, Michelle Marie McNichol, Thomas Michael West (Vanessa), Alan Wayne Brown (Shaina), Christopher Michael Brown, and Kaya Noelle Brown; five grandsons, three granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren (along with their spouses). He is also survived by his stepmother, Hedy Ray West, and his siblings: David Bruce West (Dee), Wendy Anne Raines (Robert), Bruce Dale West Jr. (Dorothy), Patricia West Hilliard (Charles), Timothy Joseph West (Sandy), Diana Marie West, Jerri Warren (Mark), Michael Allen West, and Christy Molina.

In addition to his immediate family, Mike was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends—too many to count—spanning from Florida to Tennessee and Indiana. Among those friends, he shared a special bond with his great friend Carl Mealman.

Mike’s life was marked by hard work, laughter, devotion to family, and genuine friendship. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A memorial service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Medford “Keith” Foskey officiating. Calling hours for friends will be from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
