Michael L Stensaas, 83, of Chicago, died on May 2nd, 2025 at The Admiral of the Lake Retirement Community in Chicago, Illinois.
Michael Leonard Stensaas was born October 11th, 1941 in Concordia, Kansas to Elden and Dorothy Stensaas. He attended schools in Rapid City, South Dakota, graduating from high school in 1959. He attended college at the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, graduating in 1963 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was part of the ROTC program at the School of Mines, and later served as an officer in the US Army Corp of Engineers in Germany.
Michael worked for several years at the Trane Heating & Air Conditioning company in La Crosse, Wisconsin before returning to school at Harvard University. He graduated from Harvard in 1969 with an MBA in business and creative marketing. He then worked as a business consultant serving as interim CEO or CFO for several small to medium-sized companies in the Chicago area. He was a Group Chair for Vistage International from 2000 until his retirement in 2021.
Michael married Honey Lee Adams of Chicago in 1989. He was a long-time member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Chicago.
Preceding him in death was his wife Honey Lee, and his parents Elden and Dorothy Stensaas. Michael is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Jane and Gary Fick, nephews Mike (Patty Jaeger) Fick, Darren (Nikki) Fick, Damon (Andrea) Fick, and James (Carrie) Fick, grand-nieces and nephews Kyler, Macy, Brody, Elden, Henry, Walter, Owen, Ruby, and Mabel Fick and nieces Michele Twilley, Melinda Hinsley, and Erin Hopwood.
A memorial visitation is to be held from 1-3:00 PM on May 15th, 2025 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 1458 W Belmont Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can go to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 2335 North Orchard, Chicago, Illinois, 60614.
