Michael Ransom
- November 6, 2025

Michael Edward Ransom, beloved husband, brother, son, friend, and man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on April 14, 1963, Michael lived a life of devotion—to God, to his family, and to the communities he served. Michael’s love for scripture was the cornerstone of his life. He followed the teachings of Dr. William Creasy for many years and joined him on numerous pilgrimages that deepened his understanding of the Bible. His faith radiated outward in his care for others—at work, in his parish, and among friends and family. He prayerfully crafted Ranger Rosaries for military service members, a quiet act of compassion that reflected his deep commitment to service.
A U.S. Army veteran from Desert Storm, Michael carried the values of discipline, respect, and dedication into every aspect of his life. He was a civil engineer and successful construction project manager who led with integrity and kindness, contributing to major infrastructure projects including work with the San Francisco Muni Railway System and the recent construction of the new South San Francisco Police Station. He was a supportive friend and colleague, known for his intuitive mind, sharp humor, and generous spirit.
Michael found joy in kayaking and especially bicycling, passions that helped him recover from a stroke on September 29th with remarkable resilience. He returned home from rehabilitation with strength and hope, healing steadily from fractured ribs and continuing to inspire those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Opelia (Opie), whose love and partnership were the foundation of a life lived with grace and purpose. Michael was a cherished older brother to his sisters, Mary and Shannon; a caring and devoted son to his mother, Anne; and a nurturing uncle to his nieces, Nora and Frances, his nephews, Owen, William, and Daniel—his beloved godson; and an avid love for sports with his brothers-in-law, Tom and Matt. His love for family was unwavering, deeply felt, and generously expressed in every relationship he held dear.
Michael’s legacy is one of faith, kindness, and quiet strength. His steadfast love for Jesus Christ and lifelong service to others will carry on to every single person(s) who have met Michael.
Reception to follow after burial services.
