Melba Stearns

Melba Jeanette Stearns, age 82, of Quintown, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025. Born on January 6, 1943, in Mobile, AL, Melba was known for her unwavering faith to Christ and her love for her family.
Melba was preceded in death by her father, Amon Isaac Short and mother, Frances Elizabeth Harrell Short; her brothers, Robert Cecil Short and James Amon Short; and her sister, Anita Kay Lee. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Charley Stearns (Selena); her granddaughters, Stacey Brooke Ford (Josh) and Carley Rachel Glass (Hunter); her great-grandchildren, Jonah Ford and soon-to-arrive Baby Glass; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Melba was a faithful member of Quintown Church of Christ, Melba was a life-long member of the Lord’s church. Being a guiding light and a true example, she helped lead her family to God, instilling in them a love for the Lord.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Maegan, her nurse, and the compassionate staff at Gentiva hospice for the gentile care provided to Melba in her final days.
Visitation with the family will be held at Quintown Church of Christ on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at the church beginning at 11:00 AM.
