Mary Sprouse

Mary Reece Sprouse, age 76, of Flat Rock, North Carolina, departed to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Hendersonville Health and Rehab after a long journey with dementia. God’s perfect plan has led her to complete healing.

The daughter of the late James E Reece and the late Carrie K Reece, she was born on November 21, 1948, in Spruce Pine, North Carolina

She retired from General Electric in 2003 after 33 years of employment.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F Sprouse, of Hendersonville, and her brother, Bob H Styles, of Spruce Pine.

Mary was a member of Tracy Grove Baptist Church. She cherished the friendships and lasting bond she had with many of the people there.

Mary’s legacy will live on through her daughters, Tina Q Street (Ken) of Hendersonville and Terri Q Heatherly (James) also of Hendersonville. Her grandsons, Jordan Heatherly (Ashton) of North Charleston, South Carolina, Joshua Heatherly (Natalie) of Etowah and Dalton Street (Elvia) of Hendersonville. Great granddaughters, Artemis Heatherly, Scarlett Heatherly and Scotty Jean Heatherly.

She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn R. Ford of Cleveland, Tennessee; sister-in-law Susie Styles of Spruce Pine; many nieces and nephews and cousins who were like siblings. Also, her stepchildren, Denise S Watts of Cowpens, South Carolina, Page S Pettit (Mark) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Kevin Sprouse (Leslie) of Boiling Springs, South Carolina. Step grandchildren, Jessica P Huckaby (Will), John Mark Pettit, Garrett Watts, Drew, Joshua & Landon Sprouse.

A memorial service for Mary will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Tracy Grove Baptist Church in Hendersonville. Her grandson, Pastor Joshua Heatherly will officiate the service. A private burial will be at Tracy Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
