Mary Jane was born on March 27, 1936, to Charles & Rose (Flicek) Kubes. She graduated with the class of 1954 at Northfield High School. She was united in marriage to George E. Karow Jr. on April 14, 1956 at Saint Dominic Catholic Church in Northfield.
Mary Jane was always a hard worker, starting with her upbringing on the family farm in Greenvale Township. She operated Liberty Cab in Faribault along with her husband for over 25 years. Over the years, she spent time working at Faribault Woolen Mill, Bingo at the Faribault Eagles, and the Faribault Public Schools Kitchen for over 30 years, being “Lunch Lady” to generations of students. She also was an Avon Representative for more than 30 years. She was a longtime member of Faribault Eagles #1460 Auxiliary.
Family was always a priority for her growing up second to youngest in a family of 11. She enjoyed being part of family celebrations and gatherings. She was also a woman of tremendous faith, always putting her trust in the Lord. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler, and loved to go fishing with her husband. Being proud of her Czech heritage, she was also a very good dancer, attending many Polka Dances. Her other passion was traveling. She adored our weeks with family and friends on Gull Lake and yearly trips to training camp in Green Bay. She was always up for going on an adventure. She found a love of cruising the Caribbean and traveling throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. One of her greatest moments was becoming a Great Grandmother. She will be remembered for her fun-loving, kind, caring, compassionate and generous nature. She rarely met a person that didn’t end in a friendship.
She is survived by her son Kevin, of Faribault; daughter Jody, of Eagan; grandson, Joseph (Ashley) of Cloquet; great granddaughter, Rylee Jane; two sisters-in-law, Rosemarie, and Kay, as well as many nieces and nephews and other family members.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Cecelia, Stan, Ray, Joe, Rosemary, Ed, Millie, Chuck, Dick, and Ron.
The family wishes to thank the extraordinary caregivers at Mill City Senior Living for making her last year’s so special.
