Mary Evelyn (nee Boldt) Bayer, loving mother to her four children (William, Stacy, Richard, Victoria), loving grandmother and great grandmother of ten passed away peacefully on Sunday March 24th 2024. She was a devoted Lutheran and loved to sing to the Lord. She sang in the choir at both St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Lemont and Immanual Lutheran Church in Hinkley. She was a member of the Bell Choir in Hinkley. Her love of music had her attending many a weekend concerts of Bluegrass music and was a long-time member of the Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association (NIBA). She enjoyed making chocolate covered pretzels for everyone and baking cookies. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Grand-Ma Cookie Baker”. She spent several years as a crossing guard for Central School. She loved sports and all games, whether it be playing cards, dominos, bowling, or playing softball by plowing into home plate. She actively supported all of her children in any sport or activity, even to the extent of ringing cowbells at her son’s football games from the stands. She enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears play, but especially loved the Chicago Cubs and could never wait for the spring training schedule so that she could watch every game. She watched every minute of the World Series run. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Clarence and Eleanor Boldt, brother John Boldt Sr.; his wife Betty (Tomlinson), sister Joylyn Kure; her husband Raymond, her sister Clarita Boldt and her first daughter Christine. She is survived by her four children William Bayer, Stacy (David) Brockman, Richard (Jody) Bayer and Victoria Martin, her 6 grandchildren Randy Jones, Stephanie (Chris) Henderson, Rebeccah (Robin) Campbell, Elizabeth Bayer, Sarah Bayer and Stephen Bayer, and her 4 great grandchildren Charlie, Eleanor, Penelope, and Samuel Henderson.
