Martha Sue Smith, 91, passed away unexpectedly August 9, 2025. She was born September 23,1933, in Jacksonville, Florida. Martha graduated from Alachua High School, class of 1951. Following graduation, she attended nursing school in Tampa, Florida. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Fred Irvin Smith, on October 28, 1952; they met each other in the 2nd grade of elementary school. They settled in Gainesville, Florida, and had two children, Donna Suzanne Smith in August 1953 (deceased) and Ronald Alan Smith, in 1954; they would have celebrated 73-years of marriage in October 2025.

In addition to her two children, she had three granddaughters by Suzanne: Beverly Ann James, Katherine Parr (deceased) and Emily Rainone. Katherine is survived by her two children, Christopher Parr, and Madison Benavides. Christopher married his childhood sweetheart, Allyson, they have three-sons, Brooks, Hayes and, Harrison and, a 4th son on the way. Madison has a son, Khi.

Martha was a loving and devoted mother and wife; she had a full, fulfilling and fascinating life where she pursued hobbies and a career of occupations, including real estate, clerical occupations and working in the medical field. She also volunteered as a hospice caregiver for several years, as well. Martha had three brothers and one sister. She was most fortunate to be able to travel with her husband, Fred, to many foreign counties and enjoy oceanic cruises to many ports of call.

A service of remembrance is tentatively scheduled at 11:00 o’clock on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Lakeside Baptist Church, 500 Bluebonnet Dr., Granbury, TX 76048. Internment has yet to be scheduled but will preceed the remembrance service. Those who wish to remember Martha in a special way may make monetary gift to hospice. No flowers or personal gifts are necessary.
