Mark K Long passed away on September 25 2024 from respiratory failure due to pneumonia. Mark was born in April 1955 to Thomas M Long and Carol Y Long in Salt Lake City, Utah.
After attending Cyprus high school he went on to attend Trade school becoming a CNC Machinist. Mark was a versatile man having many careers over his life. He worked for Kennecott Copper then went on to become a manager on a seismograph crew, traveling all over the U.S. hiking the mountains and flying in helicopters. He then went on to work for Hercules Aerospace for several years. Mark also worked for Safety Jet where he made a good friend with the owner. The company was sold which moved Mark to Logan Utah. Mark then went back to his school training and worked various jobs in CNC Machining in the Logan area. There were many careers in between all these too numerous to list. Of all his careers he loved seismograph the most.
Mark retired at the age of 50 and resided in Logan until his passing.
Known by his friends as “Rooster”, Mark loved the outdoors and spent his retirement years fishing hiking and hunting. Mark loved going out on his boat, taking family and friends. He loved teaching others to hunt and fish, always sharing his favorite spots and techniques. Mark was a proficient archer, Fred Bear being his idol. He had chukar legs and would hike the steepest mountain, without breath it seemed, to get to his favorite hunting spot. Mark loved catching large mouth bass, big tiger musky and flushing a cackling rooster pheasant. Mark loved making friends and his friends meant the world to him. He spent much time with his friends hunting fishing and just enjoying life.
Mark always had a dog as a companion and was especially fond of Bud. Bud passed before Mark which left a void in his life.
Mark was preceded in death by Thomas M Long (father), Bryan M Long (brother) and his best friend Bud. He is survived by Carol Y Long (mother), Dana Sheppick (sister) and Daren D Long (brother) A small family gathering will be held in Mark’s honor.
