Mark Carpenter

Mark S. Carpenter, of Bellingham Washington, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025.

Mark was born in Bellingham, in 1953, to Robert and Ethel Carpenter. He was a lifelong Bellingham resident. Mark had happy memories of growing up in the Cornwall neighborhood on Plymouth Drive and was a proud Bellingham High School graduate. After graduation, he attended Skagit Valley College, where he played on the men’s basketball team. Mark was the owner and operator of Mark S. Carpenter Roofing.

Mark was an active member of the Bellingham community. He spent many years as a member of the Bellingham Jaycees, in addition to being a long-time fan and supporter of Bellingham High School boy’s basketball. As his children grew, he coached many of their youth athletic teams, where he was able to share his love of sports such as basketball and baseball.

Mark enjoyed many activities and hobbies. He continued to play basketball after college and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed the great outdoors, and spent many years hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. Mark found great joy in cooking and loved making meals for his family and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ethel Carpenter, and his sister, Kathy Downs. He is survived by his children Lindsay McDougal (Lance), Brienn Carpenter, and Stephen Carpenter (Alecia), and his brother Dean Carpenter (Kristi). Mark took great joy in, and was very proud of his grandchildren, Logan and Lexie McDougal, and Jace and Kasen Carpenter.

Mark’s wish was to have his ashes spread at a favorite fishing spot. For those unable to join us, please raise a toast in his honor.
