Marjorie Mae Snapp, age 82, of Paragon, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 24th, 2025, at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Born on Tuesday, September 21, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the only child of the late Marshall D. Chittenden and Nellie F. (Rumple). Though an only child by birth, Marjorie was blessed with a large extended family including her nineteen half-brothers and half-sisters.

On January 8, 1972, she married the love of her life and soulmate, John Dale Snapp, and together they shared 53 beautiful years filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion.

A woman of many talents and passions, Marjorie was a four-time state champion horseshoe pitcher, a remarkable achievement that brought her great pride and many friendships. She enjoyed reading, cheering on her beloved Indianapolis Colts, watching NASCAR, and playing golf and traveling alongside her husband. Above all, Marjorie was happiest at home, where she lovingly dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will forever be remembered for her independence, strength, and unwavering honesty and candidness.

Marjorie was also a longtime and proud member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #230 in Martinsville, Indiana.

Survivors include her husband, John Dale Snapp of Paragon; two sons, Gene Burns of Paragon and Dale (wife, Angela) Snapp of Bloomington; one daughter, Charlene (husband, Craig) Sylvester of Pendleton; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Burns; one daughter, Lana Clark; and one grandson, Blair Clark.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral Home in Martinsville. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Rev. Rick Finney will officiate a service celebrating Marjorie’s life and legacy beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30th, 2025, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon, Indiana.
