Marilyn Westmoreland

Marilyn Marie Stutler Westmoreland, a beacon of faith and the matriarch of a large and loving family, was called to her eternal home on October 21, 2025. Born on June 12, 1942, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Forest and Virginia Newhouse Stutler, Marilyn’s life was a testament to the virtues of grace, kindness, and devotion.

Her formative years in Parkersburg instilled in her a love of learning and a spirit of service, which she carried throughout her life. After graduating from Parkersburg High School, Marilyn’s path led her to a life filled with varied professional pursuits. She was not only a dedicated mother but also a skilled secretary and a successful entrepreneur, having owned a trucking company in Georgia. Her work ethic and leadership left a lasting impact on all those who worked alongside her.

Marilyn’s faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her existence. She found solace and strength in reading the Bible and expressed her love for the Lord through her beautiful singing. Her voice, often raised in hymns and praise, was a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Virginia Stutler, her brothers Larry and Richard Stutler, and her sister Beverly Lawrentz, Marilyn’s legacy of love and faith lives on through her children: Walter Westmoreland, Virginia Steele, Melissa Smith, and Julie Johnson. Her ninteen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren, with more on the way, will continue to be nurtured by the values she instilled in each of them.

Marilyn’s passing in Cartersville, Georgia, came as the gentle close of a day, succumbing to natural causes. Her life was a journey of joy, challenges, and triumphs, each met with unwavering faith and the support of her cherished family. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will be treasured as a guiding light of love and faithfulness.

As we reflect on Marilyn’s life, we are reminded of the Scripture, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her unwavering commitment to her family, her steadfast faith, and her generous heart have left an indelible mark on the world. We celebrate her life, honor her memory, and find peace in knowing that she is at rest in the loving arms of our Savior.

We bid farewell to Marilyn Marie Stutler Westmoreland, not with sorrow but with the joy of knowing that her spirit lives on in the lives of those she touched. Her journey on earth may have concluded, but her story continues through the love she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the faith that guided her every step.
