In Loving Memory of Marilyn Al-Ajjo
October 10, 1962 – April 23, 2025
Marilyn Al-Ajjo, a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully in Chicago, Illinois, on April 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 62 years old.
Born in Tangub City, Mindanao, Philippines, on October 10, 1962, Marilyn was the 11th of 14 children of DelaPaz Cortes Hinog. After graduating from Carlington High School in Pittsburgh—where she proudly cheered for her favorite team, the Steelers—Marilyn moved to Chicago in 1986.
She moved to Chicago in 1986 and worked in hospitality for over 20 years, including at Walgreens, Wag’s Restaurant, Shoney’s, and the Palmer House Hilton, where she created lasting memories for many. She concluded her career with 15 years at Sam’s Auto Dealership.
Though Marilyn did not have children of her own, she was a second mother to her many nieces and nephews, nurturing them with unconditional love and guidance. Marilyn will be remembered for her nonjudgmental spirit—she made everyone feel accepted just as they were. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and joy lives on in all the lives she touched.
Marilyn is survived by her 97-year-old mother, DelaPaz Hinog; her siblings Milagros (Mario) Pabatao, Victoria Engracia, Roberto (Genara) Hinog, Paz (Rodolfo) Besana, Teresita Hinog, Virginia Danguilan, Reynaldo (Beth Ann) Hinog, Ruel (Nori) Hinog, Rosemary (Alan) Hinog, and Vincente (Noradie) Hinog; as well as nieces, nephews, great-grandnieces and nephews, and lifelong friends. Preceded in death by her sisters, Lourdes and Lilian and her brother, Edgar and nephews Vicente Jr. and Rogen.
A memorial service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Casey & Rios Funeral Home.
