Marie Lambert

Marie Lambert, affectionately known as Mariejoe, was born on June 17, 1960, in Petit Goave, Haiti. She was the cherished daughter of Madame Marie Josette Josselin. At a young age, she relocated to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, with her mother, where she pursued her primary and secondary education. In 1980, at the age of 20, Mariejoe migrated to the United States to join her mother, who was already residing there. A year later, she returned to Haiti to marry her beloved husband, Mr. Joseph Lambert, and together they later welcomed twins, Lindsay and Lesly. In the United States, Mariejoe attended the American Business Institute, where she earned her degree in business. Known for her kindness, she was adored by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Among her friends and family, she was affectionately referred to as the ‘black rice lady’ due to her passion for cooking various Haitian dishes, particularly the diri djonjon, known as Haitian black rice. Mariejoe was a passionate gardener who found profound joy, meaning, and fulfillment in planting in her garden and connecting with the natural world. Mariejoe was regarded as the family’s matriarch, a role that cannot be filled. She is survived by her mother, Marie Josette Josselin; her beloved husband, Joseph Lambert; her two loving children, Lesly Lambert and Lindsay Lambert Bernard and son in law Andy. She will also be greatly missed by her two grandchildren, Andrew and Nylah Bernard. Additionally, she leaves behind her four siblings: Yves Nareus Lormil and his wife along with their children and grandchildren; Fritz Gerald Louis and his wife Dominique S. Louis, along with their children and grandchildren; Roodeline Josselin and her daughter Ashley; and Guerino Josselin, his wife Yves Rose Josselin, and their daughter Ivanka. Her two aunts, Gilberte St. Juste and her husband Claude St. Juste, along with their two children and grandchild, and her aunt Gladys Josselin and her husband, along with their two children, Yvonne and Billy, and their two grandchildren, also survive her. Mariejoe was a dedicated worker, having held various positions throughout her life in the healthcare industry. For the past fifteen years, she served as a Mental Health Worker at Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital, where she positively impacted the lives of her patients and colleagues and affectionately became known as the “Mother of Zucker”. She was a devoted daughter, and her legacy will endure.
