Maria Rubio

Maria Ana Rubio, born March 4, 1960 in Laredo Texas, the daughter of Maria and Santos Garcia, passed away on May 2, 2025 peacefully surrounded by her six children. Maria dedicated her life to creating a warm, nurturing home and relationship with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Maria’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving environment. Her love language of cooking brought her joy, because she knew it would bring the family together and that’s how she showed her love. The eagerness she felt when holidays or parties were to arrive brought her more joy, because she knew we would gather and become a wholesome family. The love for nurturing was evident to all of us.

She is survived by her husband Francisco Rubio, her six children Juanita Martinez (Hilario), Sonia Rubio, Sandra Castaneda, Francisca Rubio (Gabriel Herrera), Guadalupe Garcia and Luis Garcia. She was loved by her grandchildren Francisco Garcia, Adrian Martinez, Jennifer Rubio, Guadalupe Martinez, Alexandra Castaneda, Lissette Garcia, Eduardo Beiza, Ruth Martinez, Antonio Castaneda, Priscila Garcia, Vanessa Garcia, Joseph Castaneda, Joaquin Rodriguez, Abigail Herrera, Oscar Garcia, Guadalupe Garcia Jr., and Janellie Garcia and her 17 great grandchildren. 

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Casey & Rios Funeral Home at 4540 W. Diversey Ave., Chicago, Illinois 60639. A of mass of christian burial will take place on Friday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy following the burial at Maryhill Cemetery.
