Maria Palmira Goulart was born on July 5, 1945 in Faial, Acores, Portugal and immigrated to California in 1967. Maria died from dementia on August 30th, 2025, peacefully at her home in Sunnyvale, where she had lived over 50 years. She was married to Antonio Goulart for almost 45 years and raised two sons, Tony (Nelly) and Roger (Julie). She is also survived by 5 grand daughters, Tiffany, Jordan, Sarah, Annie and Kate, as well as 2 great grandsons – Hugo and Jonas.
She was a devout parishioner at St. Cyprian’s Church and very involved in her community. She spent her early years working in the electronics industry but mostly focused on raising her family. Maria loved entertaining family and friends and cooking for them. This was one of her biggest passions as she was a tremendous cook. Her house was often the central meeting place for gatherings of all sizes and she loved to have a full house.
After Antonio passed away in 2009, Maria spent most of her time with her granddaughters and her own 2 sisters, Gabe and Mary. She loved outings with them, and her niece Sandy, whether it was shopping, going out to eat or just taking drives.
Maria was one of the kindest and most generous people you would ever meet and was beloved by friends and neighbors alike. Even in her dementia, she continued to be positive and a shining light until her death. She will be missed greatly.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cyprian Church,
195 Leota Ave, Sunnyvale. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
