Maria-Dolores Soto
- May 27, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lola (born Maria-Dolores Soto), a
cherished mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who passed away on May 25, 2025, in San
Francisco, CA, at the age of 54.
Lola was born on December 31, 1970, in El Paso, TX, to Macrina and the late Dr. Raul Soto.
She lived life to the fullest, bringing joy and light wherever she went. A resident of Portsmouth,
RI, and previously from San Francisco, Lola was the heart of her family and the center of every
happy memory.
Survived by her beloved daughter, Isabella—her light and her world—Lola is also mourned by
her mother Macrina, her siblings Lety (and nephews Austin and Adam), Dr. Armando (and
sister-in-law Kellie, niece Natalie, and nephew Alex), Gaby (and nieces and nephew Brittany,
Chloe, Sydney, Bo, and Ellie), and her “almost twin” sister Caro, as well as her brother in spirit,
Shawn, and nieces Sophia, Bronnie, and Tekla. She is also survived by the largest group of
friends that a person could have ever possibly had.
Lola was brilliant, but it was her vibrant spirit and boundless energy that truly defined her. From
a young age, she lived like she was running out of time, eager to take part in every adventure,
to make every moment count, and to ensure that everyone around her was enjoying life as
much as she did. She was generous with her time and her heart, always willing to share a
laugh, a story, or a kind word.
Those who knew her will forever remember her infectious laughter, her radiant smile, and her
unrelenting warmth. Her love for life was truly extraordinary, and she leaves behind a legacy of
joy, kindness, and the deepest connections with those lucky enough to know her.
Now, Lolita is reunited with her beloved father in heaven, undoubtedly dancing to the rhythm of
a joyous Mexican celebration, surrounded by music, good food, and endless love. As she would
have wished, we find comfort in knowing she is in paradise, and we honor her by carrying
forward her spirit of love, laughter, and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, Lola would want you to live your life to its fullest; have a techno party, wear a
onesie, and celebrate her.
Interment will be a private event attended by her family.
Lola’s family is forever grateful for the time they shared with her, and though she may no longer
walk among us, her presence will remain in every laugh, every hug, and every cherished
memory.
Rest in peace, dear Lola. You will forever be missed and always remembered.
