Luena Delores (Repka, Ruhland) Meister, 97, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025.

She was born in Honey Creek Township, the youngest child of Richard and Theresa (Reinecke) Repka. She attended Honey Creek Ridge school and Prairie du Sac High School, where she graduated in 1945. She worked in a beauty salon in Prairie for two years.

In 1947 she married Daniel (Boone) Ruhland. He died in a car accident in 1956. In 1961 she married Donald Meister. He died of cancer in 1991. She worked as a CNA at the Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg, a job she loved for 15 years.

Luena enjoyed cooking, playing euchre, knitting, crocheting and embroidery, and loved to read and listen to music. She had a deep love for animals and an innate ability to care for orphaned baby animals. Growing up, our home always had baby animals of some kind or another, that neighbors would bring for her to nurse and raise. She was a woman of deep faith and was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain.

She is survived by her nine children: Michael Ruhland, Charles Ruhland, Linda (Alan) Dill, Robert Ruhland, Nicholas (Lisa) Ruhland, David (Sandy) Ruhland, Christina (Tom) Gorman, Mitchell (Sara) Meister, Monica (Terry Feiner) Dedrick, 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lavern and Eric Repka, sisters Regina Yanke and Helen Wenzel as well as great grandchildren, Jason (Buddy) Ruhland, Findley Grace Dill and Gabby Tranel. She was also preceded by her in-laws, Alois and Christina Ruhland, Joseph and Elizabeth Meister and many brothers and sisters-in-laws.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 5th, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 1240 Nachreiner Ave., Plain, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Luke’s Cemetery. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Catholic Church or The Plain Kraemer Library.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Collins and his staff in Plain and the staff at SSM Hospice House in Baraboo for their compassionate care.
