Lois Jorgensen

Lois B. Jorgensen, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 14.

Lois grew up in Chicago and graduated from Amundsen High School. She went on to attend the University of Illinois, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1952. A proud member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, Lois was recently honored with a 75-year membership pin, a testament to her enduring connection to her sisters and her alma mater. She was honored with membership in Mortar Board, a national honor society recognizing exemplary scholarship, leadership, and service. After spending time as an engineer for the telephone company, Lois went on to earn a master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois.

After college, Lois married her first husband, Ronald Maina, an architect who designed their home in Park Ridge, Illinois. After Ron’s death, Lois and her son Bob lived there for many years. She later met and married Christian Jorgensen, and together with his four children, they built a rich and joyful life.

Lois and Chris spent many years in the Chicago area, eventually retiring to Florida, while continuing to enjoy summers in the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin area. In retirement, they traveled the world, creating memories and many friendships. The couple shared a deep love of sailing, spending countless days on the water in both Florida and Wisconsin.

Lois is survived by her children Robert Jorgensen, Scott Jorgensen, Karen Jorgensen, Carolyn (Mike) Bench, and Gregory (Nancy) Jorgensen; grandchildren Daniel (Bridgette) Jorgensen, Bradley (Amber) Jorgensen, Eric Bench, and Lauren Bench; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and her niece Patrice (Nick) Schimick.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Ronald Maina; second husband Christian Jorgensen; sister Jean (Edward) Stein; niece Cheryl and nephew William. Her legacy lives on in the lives of all who loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Toynton’s Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until the time of service at 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Salvation Army, 11315 W. Watertown Plank Road
