Lois Gladys Rosas

Lois Gladys Berger Rosas, passed away peacefully at Villa Marie Claire on September 12, 2025, in Saddle River, NJ. Born on September 28, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Rose and Hyman Berger, brother Aaron Berger, and sister-in-law Jackie Berger.

Born in East New York and raised in Coney Island, she attended PS 188, Mark Twain JHS 239, and Lincoln HS. While attending Brooklyn College she worked in the Anthropology Department for Terri Vulcano, who then became a lifelong friend and frequent traveling and casino companion. After graduating from Brooklyn College, she became an amazing teacher for 40 years, making a difference in the many lives she touched. Thirty of those years were at PS 81 in Bedford Stuyvesant. The rest were spent at PS 95 in Gravesend until she retired in 2000.

Outside of work, Lois was a deeply loving and caring mother who raised three successful daughters as a single mom. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and most of all spending time with family and friends at the casino. She would develop a passion for birds after receiving her first avian companion, HB at her Sweet Sixteen. Lois’ love for her birds was legendary. She found joy in their companionship, and they always held a special place in her family. When not sitting at her favorite slot machines, Lois was an avid Tetris player and later in life, a Candy Crush expert. Throughout her life she enjoyed the beach, going to movies, and catching up on the telephone with her loving friends.

Lois was a strong and courageous woman who defeated breast cancer and lived a full and rewarding life. She is survived by her daughters Rori Marie Fallacaro, Chrissie Rosas, Tami Shoshan, grandson Rhys Joseph Shoshan, son-in-law Anthony Fallacaro, godsons Brian Pollack, and Paul Zinger, and like a goddaughter Jennifer Artale. Lois is also survived by a network of beloved and long-time friends, Melva Pollack, Stephanie Zinger, Barbara Pedowitz, and Gloria Klings.
