Lloyd Fredericks

Lloyd Fredericks, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, in Cottonwood, AZ. He was born on March 6, 1935, in Oraibi, AZ, to Stella Preston and stepfather, Collins Preston. His Hopi clans were Tobacco and Rabbit.

In his early years, Lloyd attended the Phoenix Indian School, and soon after, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably during the Korean War. He retired with the rank of Staff Sergeant and returned home to Leupp, AZ.

Lloyd later attended and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education. For over 50 years He went on to have a meaningful career in education, teaching English and Talented and Gifted classes. He also served as a Residential Advisor for the Kinłani and Winslow Dormitories and as Residential Manager for Leupp Schools, Inc. He was a wonderful teacher and educational advisor. Beyond his professional life, he dedicated much of his time caring for his family. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, listening to music, grilling, gardening, and sports.

A special thank you goes to the entire staff at Carefree Assisted Living Center in Cottonwood, AZ where he last resided. Their care and compassion is at our utmost appreciation.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rosh Fredericks, Sylvia Fredericks, Michelle Reams (Daughter), Denise Fredericks (Daughter), Lance Fredericks (Son) and Alexander Reams (Grandson).

He is survived by his grandchildren: Christopher Sheka, Dustin Fredericks, Devin Fredericks, Erin Billy, Mikos Dixson , Darshaun Sheka, 1 great grand-daughter and 3 great-great grandchildren.
