Leslie A., son of Elmer and Mabel (Schwartz) Melchert, was born on September 21, 1953, in Faribault. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1971. Les worked at Treasure Caves, McLane, Land O’ Lakes and C & S Vending. He especially enjoyed collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House while working at C & S Vending. Les enjoyed playing cards, traveling, visiting with family and friends, and supporting the MN Twins and Vikings.
Les’s grandchildren were his biggest enjoyment and very precious to him. When anyone would ask about or bring up family, his face would light up with a big smile and he’d pull out his phone to start showing them pictures of his grandchildren. He was extremely proud to be their Grandpa and they were his world until the end.
Les is survived by his significate other, Mary Meyman; two children, Curtis (and Bri) Melchert and Sara (and Juston) Wead; grandchildren, Ben, Callie and Cole Melchert, Lyla and Hartley Wead; siblings, Jennifer McCullough, Michael (and Shawn) Melchert and Lynette (and Scott) Forcelle; nieces and nephews, Rhonda, Renae, Robin, Rachel, Nick, Jason, Brad, Ashley and Daniel; mother of his children, Janice Billeb.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his spouse, Janet Bultman; his stepfather, George Ellingworth; his brother-in-law, Charles McCullough; and his brother-in-law David Felix.
Memorials in Les’s name can be provided to charities of your choice.
