Leon Sullivan

Leon Sullivan, 82, of Thompsonville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 8:33 A.M. at the Herrin Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1942 in Thompsonville to Arthur Eugene Sullivan and Clarabel ( Huffstutler ) Sullivan.

He was married to Marilyn Kay ( McClerren) Sullivan and she preceded him in death on May 8, 2021

Mr. Sullivan was a retired coal miner, having worked at Old Ben Mine # 25 for many years. He attended the Thompsonville First Baptist Church and was a member of the UMWA Local # 2250.

He is survived by 3 sons, Joe (Taffy) Sullivan of Thompsonville, Jason (Chelsea) Sullivan of West Frankfort and Cale (Krystal) Sullivan of Thompsonville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren , a brother, Jim (Donna)

Sullivan of West Frankfort and 4 sisters, Nancy Fletcher of Greenwood, Indiana, Mary Limp of Champaign, Illinois, Ester Johnson of Johnston City and Susie (Wayne) Pyles of West Frankfort.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn Kay Sullivan and by an infant brother, David.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Pastor Larry Miller officiating. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the McCann Cemetery near Thompsonville.
