Lena June (Garber) Alexander, 92, of Promise City, Iowa graduated into heaven while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Wayne County Hospital.
Lena was born on February 13, 1933, in Versailles, Missouri to Ed and Elizabeth (Deiner) Garber.
Lena, after graduating from college with her Teaching Certificate, married the love of her life, Richard Alexander, on June 15, 1957, and to this union they welcomed six children; Paul, Mary, David, Lois, Stephen and Rachel.
Lena loved her big family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially babysitting and reading books to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed writing letters which always included poems and Bible verses, reading poetry, quilting, gardening, watching hummingbirds, and making her wonderful fried cheeseburgers.
Lena is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Paul (Deleta) Alexander, Mary (Carol) Palmer, David (Kelley) Alexander, Lois (Craig) Palmer, Stephen (Melissa) Alexander, Rachel (Daniel) Bear; 34 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren; brother, Homer (Twila) Garber; sisters, Rosie Fulks and Mary Gehman; brother-in-law, Bob Alexander, along with numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and grandson, Kenny Mathes.
Funeral Services for Lena will be held at Corydon Bible Church on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM with burial to immediately follow at the Confidence Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Corydon Bible Church on Monday, July 21, 2025. Memorials in honor of Lena can be made to Corydon Bible Church and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home Attn: Alexander Family 303 E. Jefferson Corydon, IA 50060.
