Laurel Foshay Ferguson, a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 22, 2025, in Danbury, CT. Born on December 27, 1952, in White Plains, NY, to the late Albert and Ann (Dearborn) Foshay, Laurel’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family.
Laurel’s early years were spent in the halls of Carmel High School in Carmel, NY. After graduation, she embraced the role of homemaker with grace and dedication, creating a warm and loving environment for her family. Her marriage to Barry Ferguson blessed her with two daughters, Susan Busnel (Cris) and Kristin Desrosiers (Stephen), who were the center of her world.
In her later years, Laurel found companionship and happiness with Noel Costa, sharing life’s simple pleasures and creating cherished memories. Her sister, Lila Foshay Rinaldi, stood by her as a beacon of support and friendship throughout her journey.
Laurel’s love for her grandchildren, Aidan, Shannon, Nathan, and Gavin, knew no bounds. They were her greatest joy, and she loved spending time with them. Her passion for life extended to her love of flowers and gardening, where she found peace and solace in the beauty of nature. Cross-stitching, puzzle books, and her affection for animals reflected her appreciation for life’s intricate patterns.
An avid reader, Laurel’s love of books was only matched by her enthusiasm for the long-running soap opera, The Young & Restless, of which she was a lifelong fan.
Laurel was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Carmel, NY as well as a member of the ladies group Dorcas Society.
Laurel will be deeply missed and eternally cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will continue to flourish in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the laughter of her grandchildren, who will carry her love forward for generations to come.
