Larry Waters

Larry Anthony Waters was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 3, 1955.  From his earliest days, Larry’s journey was defined by love, devotion, and a steadfast commitment to those around him.

Larry’s childhood unfolded in the embrace of Germantown, where he and his brothers, alongside their beloved cousin, filled the block of Tulpehocken Street with laughter and the sound of roller skates.  At the age of 11, his family moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey – a new chapter that brought new friendships and formative experiences.  Larry attended New Jersey Avenue Elementary School, Chelsea Junior High, and Atlantic City High School.

At just 17, he made the honorable choice to serve his country in the military, a decision that spoke to his courage and sense of duty.  After his service, in 1987, Larry’s life changed forever when he met Elsie Lampson and her eldest son, Jemal Norman, stepping into the role of a devoted father figure.  Larry and Elsie welcomed two children together: his cherished son Quincy, and his adored daughter, Aleisha.

Shortly after the birth of his children, Larry began a new chapter as a cook for the Casino Control Commission.  His culinary gifts blossomed as he assisted his mother, Evelyn, in running a family catering business throughout the early 1990s.

In 2003, Larry joined the board of education, a role that would lead him to meeting Deidre at Atlantic City High School in 2005.  Their love grew quickly, and Larry embraced Deidre’s four children as his own, becoming a guiding presence in their lives-especially for Jasmine, whose father had passed away.  In 2007, their families became one, joining hands in marriage and creating a blended family filled with unwavering love for all eight children.

Family was Larry’s greatest joy.  He delighted in every holiday and birthday, showering his grandchildren with gifts and affection.  His happiest moments were spent watching their faces light up on Christmas morning and birthdays, moments he cherished beyond measure.  Sundays were reserved for his beloved Green Bay Packers and his hometown team Philadelphia Eagles, as he cheered on his teams alongside his son Quincy while cooking hearty meals to share with family.

Larry’s warmth, generosity, and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  His legacy lives on through eh stories, traditions, and love he leaves behind. 

Rest in peace, Larry.  Your spirit will forever shine in the hearts of your family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Lillian Gill; his father, George Richard Waters; and his brothers, George Waters and William Waters.

Carrying on with his loving memories:  wife, Deidre Waters; daughter, Aleisha (Christopher) Boler; son, Quincy Waters; sisters, Gwendolyn Waters, Evelyn Waters, Sharon Waters, and Sheilagh Waters; brothers, Daniel Waters, Keith Waters, Kevin Waters and Kenny Waters; beautiful grandchildren, a loving abundance of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of great friends and extended family.
