Larry Hicks

Larry Byrd Hicks, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world for his heavenly home on August 5, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on August 28, 1951, in Pontiac, MI. Larry’s life was marked by love, laughter, and the kind of wisdom that only comes from a life well-lived. He passed away peacefully in Port St. Lucie, FL, leaving behind a legacy of joy and a sense of grace that will linger long after his departure.

Larry was the son of the late Billy and Jean Hicks and brother to Rick Kelts (Susie Kelts) and sister Kim Hoover (Steve Hoover), all of whom greeted him at the pearly gates. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Roberta Hicks, who was the love of his life and partner in all things. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including daughters Barbara Hicks (Trey Thofner), Katherine Collaros (Manoli Collaros), and Christina Agulililla (Randy Agulililla). Larry’s joy was multiplied with the arrival of each of his grandchildren: Emma and Athena Collaros, Ali Hicks, and Ryder and Ellie Agulililla. He also leaves behind his twin brother Garry Hicks (Gale Hicks) and brother Billy Hicks (Gail Hicks), who will carry on the Hicks family legacy of humor and handiness.

He was a man of many interests, with a particular love for fishing in the Bahamas, where he claimed the fish practically jumped onto the boat. An avid sports fan, he spent his Sundays cheering on his favorite racing drivers and football teams. He spent most of his days doing what he loved most, tinkering around his garage and taking care of the pool and yard work.

Larry was the epitome of loving, handy, and wise. He was a man’s man, a truly likable guy. He could fix anything with duct tape and a smile, and his advice of doing things right the first time or don’t do it at all. His hands were rarely still, for he believed in the value of hard work and the satisfaction of completing his work. Whether it was tile, painting, or building a pergola for his wife’s hot tub in Florida, Larry did everything with love.

Larry Byrd Hicks was more than just a man; he was a faithful man, a pillar of strength, and a testament to God’s love. As we say goodbye to this incredible soul, we do so with the knowledge that his spirit lives on in each of us, guiding us with laughter and love until we meet again.
