Larry Ervin Allwood, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Maysville, MO, on August 26, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on June 4, 1942, to Ervin (Bud) and Ethel (Grace) Allwood, Larry was a lifelong resident of Maysville, where he made an indelible mark on the community.
On July 7, 1968, Larry married the love of his life, Rochele Ann (Dent) Allwood, with whom he shared over five decades of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Richard (F Karen) Allwood, Michele Allwood, and Patty Allwood, who were the pride and joy of his life.
Larry was the proud owner and proprietor of Eastside Tavern in Maysville, a cherished local establishment he ran for 50 years. Known for his warm smile and friendly demeanor, Larry took great pleasure in visiting with his customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. The tavern was not just a business for Larry; it was a place where memories were made, and community ties were strengthened.
In his spare time, Larry enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his family, taking trips to the lake, fishing, and boating. He had a particular fondness for scratching lottery tickets and hunting for mushrooms, activities that brought him joy and relaxation.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and his daughter-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife, Rochele; his children; his cherished grandchildren: Austin (Laura) Blevins, Sammantha Allwood, Jordan Allwood, Erin (AJ) Ripp, Victoria Allwood, Briley (Chrystal) Allwood, Pete Wills, and Emma Laipple; and five beloved great-grandchildren: Sophia, Nathan, William, Nevaeh, and Malachi. His legacy of love, kindness, and community will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Larry will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to bring warmth and smiles to those who remember him.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Turner Family Funeral Home in Maysville, with inurnment immediately following at Shambaugh Cope Cemetery. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
