Kinetic Massage and Movement Therapy opens in Carson City
- June 30, 2025

Inside a historic home on the corner of Long and Roop Streets, Kinetic Massage and Movement Therapy has taken up residence, offering wellness treatments to their clientele.
Owner Shelby Francoeur is a Carson City native who has been practicing massage therapy for 17 years. She moved to California to attend college when she was 18, but in 2016 she returned home to be closer to family.
“I love being home, and I enjoy the strong sense of community the residents of Carson City have,” Francoeur said.
Francoeur herself began receiving massage when she was 17 after experiencing a low back injury.
“After I earned a BFA in dance performance from Chapman University, I went straight into a massage therapy program at the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing,” she said. “I earned my advanced certification in 2008 and have been doing body work ever since.”
Francoeur’s focus is on relieving discomfort to increase quality of life, since after receiving her injury, she knows first hand how important pain relief is.
“I use a combination of Swedish, deep tissue, joint mobilization, and stretching techniques, and in recent years I have started to utilize more pain science and neuroscience to achieve better and more long lasting results,” she said. “I am very passionate about helping people improve their quality of life and educating them on simple and effective ways to improve their pain and discomfort. I have a lot of experience working with clients that have chronic pain, repetitive stress injuries, postural issues, or who are recovering from surgery. I love my work, and am excited to bring my vision to life in Carson.”
The Kinetic Massage and Movement Therapy team is made of Francouer and three other therapists who offer 30, 60 and 90 minute massage options, in addition to offering a $75 introductory massage for first time clients. They also offer membership options for clients who are looking for massage once per month or more.
The other therapists are Sean Frost, Marjourie Peralta and Tyler Hayes.
“We also provide movement therapy sessions where we can further assist clients with posture and alignment, stretches, exercises, and other resources to help them continue working on their health at home,” Francouer said.
They are open Monday through Saturday by appointment. You can make an appointment online at kineticmmt.com or by calling (775) 301 6050.
